Effective Immediately we will be suspending all custom work and projects. My wife has been diagnosed with cancer. We just met with the doctors and her surgery is scheduled for July 13th. The cancer is in her kidney. Normally they would just remove the kidney but she also has kidney disease and her kidneys only function at 40 percent now. They are going to try to save as much of the kidney as possible but the doctor has made no promises. Unfortunately the surgery will lead to reduced kidney function. To what degree we do not know. She will not be able to get a kidney transplant for two years after the surgery unless it is absolutely needed. So we may be facing a few years of issues in the road ahead. We don't know if she will need dialasis and will not know until the surgery is performed or some time down the road. It's not all doom and gloom. The doctor is going to try to save as much of the kidney that does have cancer as he can. We had thought that it would have to be removed and that is still a possibility. He will not know until he performs the surgery.
I know some of you may have noticed a reduction in my posting lately and I do apologize for that. There will be days where I have to close the shop to help my wife and kids. If everything goes well she will be down for about a month. But knowing my wifes recovery history one month is going to be two or three. Her goal is to be recovered enough to attend Macna. I might have to fly her in. We'll see. But the goal is for her to be cancer free and smiling and joking with all the friends we have made over the years. She is a fighter and we will absolutely get through this. She has a strong faith and will be surrounded by friends and family. I don't think the phone has stopped ringing in our house for the last four days for more than 10 minutes.
So I do apologize to my customers and friends that have been wanting custom work done but there is no way I will be able to do any extra and it isn't fair to keep anyone waiting. It could be years before I can get back into custom work.
Please bear with us and understand if I do not respond to PM's or emails in a timely manner. Right now my number one priority is to my wife and family. My staff will continue working to do our best to keep our existing products in stock. We hope our customer service continues to be exceptional.
I thank you for your patience and understanding. The scary thing is the unknown. We know we will beat the cancer but what the future holds for her is filled with uncertanty.
