I got my first frags ever in this hobby from Manoj on here and after a week and a half the frags seem to be doing well and like the placement I found for them in the display tank. My question as a frag newb is what is the best way to remove them from the frag plugs to secure them to my LR for a permanent placement? I can hardly stand them just sitting there on the plugs looking ugly......lol Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Shawn

If I were you I would just leave them on the frag plug, if it is zoas it will just overgrow it anyway. But if you want to take the frag off a razor blade would work just fine.

You could also do what some others have done which is apply glue to the frag plug, roll it in substrate, then repeat, after a few coats you'll have a block of substrate in the shape of a rock which will, over time, get covered in coralline and look like liverock

You could also use some epoxy putty to affix the plugs to the live rock, it willget overgrown pretty quick.

Just glue the plugs right on the rocks, they'll only be ugly for a little while. If you remove them you will set them back a bit, it can be done, but not worth it.

I like to cut the bottoms of the frag plugs off and mount them in an indentation on a piece of live rock, so that the coral is flush with the face of the rock. That way, when the coral grows, it expands laterally across the rock, and doesn't grow into a beautiful coral that looks like it has a tumor in the middle.
