normal?

Is it normal for a duncan to close up? This is the first I have seen it but mine have been closed for 3 days now. It is time for a waterchange but everything else is doing well. Also working on bumping up the alkalinity since I have been using ro/di water. That is the only parameter that isnt in the correct range at 7.

Just re-tested. Tank is at 8dkh and water change/top off is at 10.

My experience with duncan's is that close up when irritated or lights out.

When my duncan was small it would close up when about ready to pop out a new head. It would close for about 3-5 days then would be open again along with a baby. now that its big it doesnt really do that any more.

It is putting on a new head also. Thanks guys. it is barely peeking out this morning but better than yesterday. It started with three heads now it is working on 5.

Seems you brains were correct :) It is open and happy looking again today. (after 5-6 days) with new ones.

I started with just 4 heads-today I got 12+ have had it for 4 months!!
