Hi Evil

I would like your expert knowledge please.

I am building a LED system for my tank, but in the form of small 20 LED arrays as I am combining with T5's

My array will be 12 XPE RB and 8 XPG CW.

How can I set the meanwells up to make sure that I dont blow up any LED's?

Many thanks

what model meanwell driver are you planning on using?

Sorry

The meanwell is a eln 60 48 d

Turn SRV2 all the way counter clockwise (gently, it only turns 270 degrees). That should put you at your minimum current. With the dimming voltage set to what you want your max to be, connect the LEDs to the driver, and turn everything on with a multimeter wired in series to the LEDs, and set to measure current. Adjust SVR2 to what you want your maximum current to be. Provided you don't go fewer than 7 LEDs, you shouldn't have to touch SRV1 (voltage adjustment).

This is the first of a number of arrays that I want to make, but this is the first trial.

Am I correct that the maximum xpe that I can run off of 1 meanwell is 12? Is this the same for the xpg?

On another note can I run this without connecting the dimming module? I would like to test in the shed rather than next to my GHL

Many thanks

yes and yes(with stipulations). you will need a voltage source for the dimming wires on the meanwell, as its dimming curve is 0A at 0V and SVR2(max)A at 10v. A 9v battery will do the trick.

XP-E's and XR-Es are effectively the same electrically, so the same limitation applies. The XP-Gs on the other hand have a lower forward voltage, so you can run a few more. 14 seems to be the safe limit for XP-Gs only.
