My original setup is a 90gal display with a wet/dry filter with built in skimmer rated for 200gal. I also have a 24"x24'"x12" frag tank in the basement. The fragtank has turned more into a nano setup than anything.
New Setup
90gal display
100gal rubbermaid stocktank sump in basement
50gal rubbermaid stocktank (will be frag tank)
Sequence barracuda
tunze ozmolator
Vertex 180 skimmer
2 icecap 250w HQI Pendants (for frag tank)
Ordering dual reactor for GFO and carbon from bulk reef
Power head atm are two tunzes for downstairs tubs
Light is original light from 90gal I use now. A Nova Extreme 6 bulb T5 all with ATI bulbs
Currently Everything is glued together and drying. Ran into a few small problems and have to wait to get a couple items. Pictures will follow soon. I am transferring everything from current 90gal display to other 90 within the next few weeks providing everything test out right. I would eventually like to get a reef controller. Let me know what you all think.

It is already most of the way done. I ran into a problem with a bulkhead. I got sand in the seal some how. I got to drain it down let it dry and sweep it out. The problem is that the pipe is glued to the bulkhead and I dont have much play in the plumbing. I might have to unscrew some brackets to get more play.That was the only problem after running the pump for about ten minutes. The tighter I made it the more it leaked. I know there has to be sand or other substances in the seal.

Agreed!
Why the change from one 90 to another?
Sorry to hear about the bulkhead issue those suck. I had a bulkhead issue too. No matter what I did it wouldnt seal, got a new one and sealed just fine.

Both bulkheads are brand new. As far as another 90 goes is because it was free and newer than my current one. This way I can set it up the way I want to. I have gathered several pieces of rock over the years and my tank is due for a overhaul. I would have liked to go bigger but the wife said no 6' tanks. If I could have found a great deal on a 120gal 4'x2'x2' I would have went that route.

Are you using 90's on your return?
lionhead
10-09-2010, 05:24 PM
There are no 90' until it gets under the floor. The pump I am using is a bit overkill so slowing down the flow is ok with me.

Well just got my bulkhead problem fixed. It is circulating with no leaks. I cannot wait to get everything transferred from one tank to the other
Glad to hear you got the bulkhead fixed and that its all up and running now! :thumbsup:
Are you running the Barricuda wide open?
lionhead
10-10-2010, 11:06 PM
The ballvalve just above the pump is wide open. The bleedoff ones are partial closed. If the bleedoff ones are completely closed its to much power. If they are all the way open then not enough goes upstairs. I hope that answers your questions. You know my setup better than anyone else.:)

Well I was curious what my chemical reading were after a week of running this system.
alk=9
Phosphate=0.2
nitrate=5
Calcium=340
Mag=?
I do not understand why the calcium is so low. My salinity is at 1.025 and I used new salt. Plus if anyone could post instructions for a Salfarent Mag let me know. My instructions grew legs and walked away. I think I can get this all under control in the next week or so. I know it might be wishful thinking but I will wait as long as I need to. I just want to get couple systems tore down.

Ok I now have my parameters up to where they need to be. I started moving my rock from my 90gal to other 90gal. I have put a few pieces of LR that have softies on them into the new system. Add a few snails and hermits as I find them when moving rock. Tonight I am bringing all my tonga branch upstairs and making my forest. Tomorrow I will move the rest of the rock I need. Then I am going to start dripping fish. The last thing is move rest of corals and epoxy them where I want them.
This has turned into a longer project than anticipated but the end result is going to be worth it. I will take some more pic once I get the aquascapping the way I want it. I just hope my fish do not get too stressed out.
I still have to get frag setup finished and the Tunze Ozmolator hooked up. I did get my filter socks on the new system. After all this there will be one more tank in the basement that has to be transferred and torn down.
I tell you my legs are getting a heck of a workout going up and down the basement stairs. Thanks for looking.

Got a fish list on this tank???
lionhead
10-24-2010, 11:05 PM
The fish are not going to be anything new. Just the fish I already have all combined into one tank.
Tomini tang
Fu Man Chu lionfish
Royal gamma
2 BW saddleback clowns
firefish
Watchman goby and pistol shrimp
psychicdelic goby
I am not sure if my Randal's goby is still around. I would like to add some flasher wrasses but depends on if I lose any fish during the transfer.

Sweet list!! The Fu Man Chu gonna be too slow to eat any of these fish?

He has been a model citizen. He is in with most of them for the last 1-2 years and have had no problems. He did eat my cleaner shrimp after about 3months but does not mess with the fish. Max length is 4".

I think I just lost my mind. I just got this 90gal setup with all the rock, fish, and coral. Now I am going to tear it down. I just had a 120gal (4'x2'x2') fall into my lap. All the plumbing and equipment going to be the same but now I have the tank I really wanted. I think I am crazy.

Well I finally got the 120 up last night. Me and TM01 and another fish buddy worked on this til 4 in the morning. I dont care much for the overflow, it can't handle as much flow as my 90gal could. I think I am going to mod it buy putting more teeth in it at the top. Plus in a month or so I think I am going to use both the return and drain as drains. I will just end up running my return over the back of it. I will post pics once I get it re-aquascaped and get my corals put into place. I should have that done in a day or two.

Well it has been a while since I have given any details. I had to replace my light due to it falling in my tank lol. I am in the process of putting together the way I want it but I ended up going complete T5 retro fit. It is still only 6 bulb but I can add 2 more down the road. So now it has a canopy on it too. I put a new MH setup on the frag tank. It is a 19.25 x 19.25 reflector with 250w mogul bulb ran off a icecap electronic ballast. I just ordered a new bulb for that and the powerhead for the reactor.
I basically have been a busy bee and still have more work to do. I will get pics up when I get my new phone with the better camera.
