Good choice on bulbs. XM's are nice, i need to get some new bulbs and im going back to XM's.

Concerns on the fish selection, 2 madarins and the wrasse, might end up just destroying your pod population. Just something to possibly consider.

Flow i would probably go with 2 k evolution 1400's and 1 1050. Think that would be plenty.

I would ditch the crush coral subtstrate, go with something finer.

And if you can, try to get a bigger sump, bigger is better.

Jealous. Those dimensions are dreamy.

I have to agree with EMU on the crushed coral substrate.

I'm looking forward to watching this come together.

cephalotus
03-19-2011, 11:01 PM
Lookin good demon I actualy like the rock wall. And no you do not need sand, looks good how it is just paint the bottom black from underneath.

demonclownfish
03-19-2011, 11:08 PM
lol. the middle of the rock wall fell a lil while ago so it needs to be fixed. and IMO a reef just isnt a reef w/o sand so its a must. although there are some neat BB tanks out there

cephalotus
03-19-2011, 11:10 PM
BB is just easier to keep clean and can handle more flow. Not better lookin but can look good and clean.

AJ :)
03-20-2011, 06:35 AM
Looks good!
How are you planning on seeding the tank?

demonclownfish
03-20-2011, 09:03 AM

John
03-20-2011, 12:37 PM

03-20-2011, 09:44 PM

demonclownfish
03-20-2011, 09:54 PM
lol, real locline might be here tomorow. and ya i just gotta find some sand first

demonclownfish
03-21-2011, 08:06 PM
ya i know lol. well the new rock appeared to have made the tank pretty cloudy, got my real locline and got rid of the DIY crap and put on the canopy :)-

been a few months so just an update on how things are doing. The cyano issue is almost under control, growth has stopped and the stuff thats still there is slowly going away. Things are growing and healthy and fish are doing awesome.

My Current Fish List:
2 B&W clowns w/ RBTA
Meleagris Leopard Wrasse
Yellow "coris" wrasse
Mandarin
Royal Gramma
Yellow Watchman Goby w/ tiger pistol
Regular Percula Clown
and last but not least my Blue Hippo Tang.

Looking for any suggestions for some new fish. Must be Reef Safe, Peaceful, and $50 or less lol.

AJ :)
04-16-2012, 07:37 AM
Nice current fish list. Post up some new pics if you get the time.

As for new fish, have you considered firefish?

demonclownfish
04-16-2012, 02:01 PM
im hoping to get a gopro soon so i can get some underwater close up video shots, and as for firefish i just lost mine that ive had for a few years from old age i suspect. looking to get some tougher fish than that as my blue hippo gets a little sassy around feeding time and can be a bit of a bully.

Sir Patrick
04-16-2012, 08:09 PM

demonclownfish
04-21-2012, 08:24 PM
well i managed some new fish recently :)

got a...
baby target mandarin
Firefish
Lubbocks fairy wrasse
and also got a blue linkia starfish.

when i originally bought the target mandarin i thought that my current red mandarin would have problems with her being in there but exactly the opposite has happened. the red has turned into like a mother figure for the little girl and the target just follows her around all day eating in the same places she does :D

pics are underway, need to do some glass cleaning :snorkel:

i dont feed it, its main source of food is pods in my tank same as my other mandarin although i know my red will eat frozen.
