i just pour pickling lime in a dish then add water little by little until it's just wet enough to smoothly flow through one of those tiny syringe tips.

Cool - for some reason I was thinking it had to boiled. Maybe I was thinking of something else.

I prefer to just place some tank or RO water in a coffee mug and nuke it to boiling point then hose down the nuisance nems with the ultra hot water

gave up on using kalk for this task

Hhhmmm, unfortunately the rock they are attached to is a good bit bigger than a coffee mug. If the Kalk paste don't work I may give that try though.
Thanks

I have never used "THE" recipe, but I have made my own concoction! Has even worked on pesky majanos-

Kalkwasser
Fresh lemon juice
Vinager
Water

Mix it into a good not too think paste, pop in the microwave till it boils, and fill my syringe quick and inject. Works for me. Not a fan of zapping the same nem more than once!

Interesting combo Patrick

Kalk is a bas, and both lemon juice and vinager are acids; I would think that they would tend to cancel each other out. Wonder how they all work together? Obviously if it kills majanos, it must be effective.

Maybe the chemical reactions of the 2 cause a bit more stress than is normally involved than just kalk paste??? I dont know, but when all else failed- this had decent results.

Not doubting, just trying to wrap my understanding of chemistry around the recipe. Now I might have to test it out, just to see if I can figure it out LOL.

I dont understand it either, but figured-

When all else fails- use all the methods at the same time! Give it a shot.

Doing some further reading on this, I found that mixing vinegar into water is recommended to all for the supersaturation of Kalk when making Kalkwasser. I wonder if by mixing the three, its allowing you to get a supersaturated Kalk paste which is significantly more basic and therefore more toxic than normal Kalkpaste.
