Sir patricks system-

Tank set up-

65 gallon breeder display
40 gallon breeder sump/frag tank

Equipment for display-

6x39w tek t5ho fixture
Vortec MP-10
Koralia evolution 1050
Offset left side mega flow overflow

Equipment for sump-

DIY PVC skimmer w/ odysea 500 pump
Blue glow classic frag rack
2x39w 10k GLO retro kit t5ho set up
Par 38 20k spotlight
Carbon reactor
Quiet-one 1200 return pump
Rio 800 pump for flow


Still unsure as to placement of this grow out pack.....keep it on the frag rack in the sump? Create a zoa garden on a rock w/ all the peices? Or- go for the win, place them in the display, and place according to type/needs of each polyp???? Still not sure what I will do.....they are all on the frag rack in my sump for now.

Nice. I will start my thread before my 2 weeks comes up,lol. I actually just got my frags today as skyhigh did me a favor and mailed a gorg from tazzy in the same box. Who knows, they may have grown babies while I was waiting.

thats a pretty sweet looking DIY skimmer you got their. did you make it or did someone else make it for you? do you have plans for one? how well does it perform?

^ The skimmer- I baught it from a local reefer. It performs very well! unbelievably well to tell ya the truth.

One day soon, I will write up a break down on the parts, as far as I can guess, and post them up.

Well....not the greatest update today......

I have some algea issues in my sump. Plugs are growing algea pretty well. Kinda hard to get a good count. Still trying to find the perfect rock to start a zoa garden with these peices. I will be transfering them as soon as i find the perfect rock, and they will be added to my display tank.


Because of the algea, i cant get a good count.....

Had to move and clean up my frag plugs....got some really dark green snot algea growin like mad in my sump. It tried to overtake my frags!!!

Cleaned them up a bit, but got them all out of order. No polyp count this time. they are mostly closed, and I cant tell 100% which is which!

The skyhigh polyps are very slow growers for me, I dont think I have a baby yet! I was able to salvage one polyp of the purple deaths, hopefully it decides to kick into gear now.

Wow, your skyhighs are doing well. They are the slowest grower for me. Other than purple Death,lol still just babying the one remaining polyp.

Looks like I took a few steps back.....

I should have done this looong ago. Today, I removed my polyps and mounted them on a nice growout rock. Hacked a polyp here and there....oops! Havnt had much growth either.

I now have these guys under a 36" t5ho, 6 bulbs. 2 actinic, 2 blue+, one fiji purple and an aqua blue special. They are in the display. Hoping to catch up with some of you front runners!!

Well....I just cant grow polyps in this system!!! I dump food in like no tomorow! Guess thats keeping them alive! I am getting almost no growth at all. Think the tank is too clean. Colors sure are nice though!!!

Grand total- 39 polyps!!! One less than last update!!! Guess I will have to spot feed them.

I think I found a "sweet spot" too....might move them into it. See if it works.
