I've decided to stop being so damn cheap and get 432 watt lights for my 75 gal....i figure that would provide enough light.

and the Upgrade Bug strikes again.

I take it your going with 8x54w tubes?

At least you'll have extra ballasts and endcaps to trade/sell if he bites you again to move up to halides...

yeah, but you get what you pay for, that fixture doesn't have waterproof endcaps(thats why they are selling it with a splash lens/light blocker). It also doesn't have individual reflectors for each bulb which is needed for maximium effectiveness with t5's.I'd be interested in seeing what kind of ballast they are using with it.I think a 4 bulb T5 w/ an IC 660 would be a better choice for the money. He coud buy 4 of the 2x54w CV retro's for just a little bit more($440)which has all the recommeneded components(waterproof endcaps/SLR's,etc..)
However, they would all need to be installed in a canopy w/fans or the CV's could be hung so i can see why he wants to buy a complete plug-n-play fixture.
