So, here is the question I have. Is mg/l the same as PPM in test values for ammonia? I know this can be the case with other compounds, but what about ammonia?

1 milligram per liter is the same as 1 part per million when it comes to volume but milligrams per liter could also be a measurement of weight ratio.

I suspected that was the case. The reason for the question is that I have barely detectable ammonia in my system at the moment. I have not had any detectable ammonia since the system was set up. I am running a bacteria driving system and the newly found ammonia surprised me. I have not found any dead animals in there, so I'm not sure where it's coming from. It could be a dead snail or something. I have lots of ceriths i there. Schedule wc is tomorrow, so hopefully it will dissipate.

Looks like Redemer answered your question. PPM (parts per million) is the same as mg/L (milligrams per liter).
