175w for 26g? To much or to little? Just shopping around here y'all, so no comments about me not making up my mind, or changing it for that matter. LMBO!

The forum tonight is slow, so I figure Id share my 2 cents.

I have a 400w mh se on my 40g with oak hood. and I like it. I did have to add a cooling fixture 4 fan, to help cool things down.
175w even if it is over kill, go with what looks good to you.
my tank is only around 18" tall so Par with my 400w is really no consern. My clam has been doing Great.
Most people like the 14,000k, me I went with e lower cost bulb that is 22,000k and looks like 14,000k but for 27$ Ill stick with it.
But I also have a buddy with a 125g and two 175w mh and his tank looks Great also.
And a nother buddy has just setup a 30g and only has one "I think 50-75w" And that Is Nice with the shimmer look.
It's all up yo you would be my 2 cents.

Miz unless your tank is over like 20 inches deep you should be fine with a 175 w would be fine. When I ordered my first light I was told by people my tank being 24 inches deep would need 250w to be safe with the depth light going all the way to the bottom etc. I use a 20k bulb and all the coral seems to love it. Remember I am not an expert, hahaha I am newer to this then you. Other stats on my tank the lamp/bulb is about a foot above the water and I run it about 12 hours a day.
good luck :)
