View Full Version : Lighting Help with 29G retrofit light ASAP!

Hey guys, gotta 29G saltwater with about 15 LBS of live rock and just got a hood on clearance for $5! I wanna get a power compact retrofit kit, but nothin' crazy. Do these just screw on to my hood? Thanks!

What is your hood made of? If it's like a canopy you can just screw it right in and be all set. They will likely not fit into any of the plastic hoods, or if they do they put off a fair amount of heat, enough to likely melt any plastic.

You should be all set then.... Just be certain when you mount them that they are good and secure. On a side note, it you can mount the ballast(s) outside (the back works well) you will avoild the possibility of them falling into the tank, additionally the heat they produce will disapate in the air not the tank.

I got the 2x65 watts with 10k daylight and 20k atinic they sent me. Is that good, and will work well for my live rock?

That will give you plenty to get started the lamp combo will be fine
