the best part about it is this site of course!

i just really enjoy all the colors and how full of life everything is, no matter where you point even with a blindfold on you can find a spot with some sort of life wether it be pods, or bristle worms, or hermits, or fish/coral it just amazes me each day that there is so much life in these things. i have my tank in my room so at night before i go to bed i lay down and just stare at it and watch the crazy little things my fish do. the clowns are always trying to pick on the flasher wrasse but he just zooms around the tank at 100mph (exxageration) flashing his fins at them because they cant catch him, there are always 2 hermits fighting for who has dominance, just noticing how big coral pieces are getting, watching them go with the flow. It amazes me everyday.

its so hard to pick just one. I enjoy the fact that not very many people do it so when someone comes over they stare at the tank for awhile and are in awe.

Reefing has so many benefits. It's relaxing, it brings people, friends and families together, it's therapuetic, it gives me a since of accomplishment, it's very relaxing to look at, my own piece of a coral reef and it affords me the opportunity to express myself. An aquarium is like a frame, and I am allowed to paint or create my own vision on the canvas with my own ideas and perceptions of what a reef should look like. That's what I like about reefing.

For me reefing appeals to the creative, artistic, mechanical, social and ecological interests. I enjoy the treasure hunt of searching and finding a new coral. I enjoy aquascaping and placement of corals. I enjoy the challenge of growing corals and the beautiful results when I am successful. The ever evolving learning journey that never ends brings much joy. These things combined with the social network that the community provides all make this hobby the best there is. Reefing pretty much covers it all.

This may sound funny but. I have a very *green thumb* and there has never been a plant that I haven't been able to keep. I have often thought of this while keeping my corals. I often compare the two.
I haven't been able to keep house plants for the last 3yrs. First due to my step son recovering from cancer. Found out that the soil carries bacteria. Second and present, my sister has 5 cats, enough said. I love plants!
I now love corals! I've always loved fish!

I love being able to watch and maintain a little eco-system in my living room. Sitting in my chair watching my tank makes me forget all of my stress and just live right there in that moment. So I guess I like all parts of it but love the fact that it reduces my stress.

Growing coral into somthing you would see on an actual reef is my favorite part right now.

Collecting/watching fish swim around the coral is a very close second.

Getting together with other hobbiest, by the internet or in person, and sharing points of veiw, opinions and experiences is what keeps it all going and successful!

I do it because it reminds me of my childhood, my mom had a freshwater tank for years and i always enjoyed it. Now that I'm older I have my own, and my kids can enjoy it also, and you never know they might do something like this when they grow up.

So tough to pick just one reason......I really enjoy pretty much everything about it. I like aquascaping, messing with equipment, maintaining water chemistry, and really just enjoying the diversity of life that exists in my little piece of the ocean. Then, getting to know others with the same addiction and fascination is simply an added benefit.
