Very nice Andy. Steve makes some incredible looking pieces of equipment. Which series did you go with? Or is that part of the suspense too? ;)

Yeah, the quality is night and day and I expect the performance will be as well. I am also excited to be getting a Michigan made product from a company that uses all US made materials.

Received my new Bashsea Blu Demon today! First impression is that it is a beautiful piece of equipment! Second impression is that it barely fits the space I have for a skimmer:). After a little fanagling (word? I dunno) but anyhow I got it in there. It seems to be pulling a lot of air and it is completely silent! The adjustment is a screw in/out type and you can fine tune the water height very accurately! So far so good! I will report back after it runs in for a while. Again I would like to Thank CR and Bashsea for the TOTY prize!

Nice! Seems odd to say it seems to be pulling alot of air yet is dead silent.
Lots of foam?
Pics would help for sure.

After a brief break in period the skimmer is starting to build tons of foam. There are no leaks whatsoever and the bubble plate seems to reduce turbulence inside the bubble chamber. I replaced a mesh modded ASM G3 with this skimmer and it is definitely a huge upgrade. Quality craftsmanship, artistic design, efficient pump, incredible ease and accuracy of adjustment, and small foot print are just some of the features that make the Bashsea Blu Demon a great buy! I will post pictures soon.:)

Being that this model hasn't even been released yet I would assume that you are not familiar nor experienced with it. Whatever experience you may or may not have had with previous models is pretty irrelevant here. I have acquired and nice new piece of equipment that I am quite happy with. I am not sure what benefit you get from knocking it. Kinda busts my bubble. Fortunately I have lots of bubbles produced by my new Bashsea Blu Demon!
Dont sell your ASM yet!!

Getting nastier by the day! This thing isn't fully broke in yet. It pulls more each day and it is getting stinkier as well:)

Their are those that believe, to fully appease the skimmer spirits and have your subjects continue to prosper
you must take a big gulp of one of the first batches of nog from a new skimmer. Just sayin....you know.....

It's a new skimmer.
Most likely will take a bit to break in and find the sweet spot.
I know my skimmer varies from week to week on how thick the skimmate is.
It looks like a great skimmer to me.
Do you know if Bashsea makes HOB units?

I can dial it back and skim dry and muddy but I prefer to skim wet. You pull more phosphate when wet skimming. That said the skimmer is still new and it is pulling more and more chunky stuff every day. I replaced a mesh modded ASM G3 with this skimmer and it is definitely an upgrade both in terms of quality and performance not to mention that with a Sicce pump it costs pennies per month to run.
