This is a couple years old, and had to replace the tank once already, But thought i would update it here.

Here is killer. The most docile sohal i have ever seen. Don't get me wrong he is no pushover, But he is not the typical sohal lunatic.

Love those deep tanks.

What kind of sand are you using?

Also lighting specs would be cool too.

What happened to the first tank?

Personally I don't know what to say. l am simply amazed at what you've done by putting your own piece of the ocean in your home. It must be wonderful to be able to work with a tank that large. The stocking options are boundless. What will you do next Raptor? :crazy2: :question:

What happened to the first tank?

It was seachem greycoast, The second time around i used white sand with pink specks. Forgot the name.
The first one devoped a pinhole leak. Marineland replaced it fortunately, But i had some major die off from the switch. Let alone killing myself and friends moving the old one out and new one in.
I am using 3 250 watt DE luminmax elites with phoenix bulbs with 3 overdriven t-5's. All blue plus.
I will be switching to ushio 20k 250watt DE's soon with maybe a stronger par t-5 like the aqua blue and add some LEDS for actinic supplimentaition.
I will be making a fish room soon when the kitchen is done. (Remodeling it myself) Part of the pain of being a carpenter.
I hate to touch it because its been doing so well lately. SPS have been growing like mad.

Thank you! Its been a long time coming i have had reefs for over 7 years and fish tanks for over 30.
I was drawn in as a child as it was a part of me instantly.
I plan to let it grow out. My past tanks were subject of me not being quite happy with my choices and were subject to cnstant change of corals and equipment. I think maybe a couple fairy wrasses and a couple more corals and i will be done.
My sohal and purple tang are my 2 that i would never get rid of. I like the small fish cruzing in and out of the rocks.

Did Marineland fix there issues with new style designs or was it manufactoring processes?

Good to hear marineland took care of you. But yeah that had to be a huge hassle.

The lighting seems pretty economical cosidering the size of that tank. Another bonus!

I am no tank builder so i wont speculate, But I would not have a problem buying another.

Not many options for this tank in lighting, Leds are just too expensive to light this tank, and i'll give them a few years to work the bugs out. (B\Not that its buggy, But price point is sky high)
I am happy with the results of the metal halides and t-5's, But the electric bill is a big chunk of change.

I mean that as a compliment.

With your reflectors and placement it works out well.

I'm hoping to achive something similar when I get around to my big tank build.

Switching back to vho this wekend for actinic. I cant seem to be happy with t-5 since i search out to find vho colors. ;)
