I'm wanting only your *experiences* here ok. No opinions if you can help it ;) I don't want this thread to become a should you, could you or would you thread.

Do you keep fish according to the gallon per inch?

What about the fish made you choose it for your tank?

When shopping for a fish do you adhere to the recommended tank size?

When shopping for a fish do you adhere to the compatibility chart?

Have you ever gone beyond the recommended # of fish for your tank size?

1. I try to adhear to the 3gallons /inch for salt. I said try more below.
2. Mostly looks color, shape.
3. Not always.... But I try to do this and also based on other things (more below) I wouldnt try putting a naso in my 75g even though I really want one.
4. Only in the fact of will it eat everybody else then no.
5. I dont know if there is a recommended max # of fish. I try to keep the 3in/g rule but I have with heavy filtration exceeded that, but not to the point the fish were cramped or fighting.

No, I consider mainly the niche they will occupy in the tank.

What about the fish made you choose it for your tank?
Color, shape, compatability, diet, activity and my ability to provide for its needs

When shopping for a fish do you adhere to the recommended tank size?
Yes, generally so, but I also consider where in the tank it is likely to inhabit

When shopping for a fish do you adhere to the compatibility chart?
Again, yes, as a general rule. But as so many will say....fish can't read

Have you ever gone beyond the recommended # of fish for your tank size?
No, I have a tendency to understock my tank
