4" Needle Wheel Skimmer (http://www.randystacye.com/diy_needle_wheel_skimmer4.htm)
Has anyone on here every built one of these? I'm looking at the 4" recirculating type. My skimmer pump died and I thought there was no better time to start a fun DIY project. So if anyone has used this type, or knows a better or comparable one, let me know! Also any mods people have made to one like this.

It's also a good time for a DIY project as you can enter in our DIY Contest for a chance to win a $100 Gift Certificate to Unique Corals.

So, just for an update on this, I've acquired a Coralife Super Skimmer 220 to band-aid my tank while I build this out.. I'm leaning twoard the recirc version, but beefing up the pvc to 6" and making it quite tall out of sump..
Anyone have any input on recirc style vs traditional venturi? It seems the recirc would increase exposure to air, and make the skimmer more efficient/effective, but that's speculation on my end..
Let me know,
Tony
