March's meeting will be a tour of the Trop and an informal talk with Dick Perrin. The meeting will start at 3 pm and go till 5 pm on March 6.
For those that have not been there, Tropicorium has 50,000+ gallons of awesome reef displays. It is truly a one of a kind place and you owe it to yourself to check it out. It also my understanding that the Trop will have some specials for our club members while we are there. :)

For those interested in carpooling from Lansing, please indicate that here in this thread as well. We will likely meet around 1:30 pm and leave together. More firm plans on travel from Lansing be posted later.
Map and directions to the Tropicorium:
20080 Inkster Road, Romulus, Michigan 48174
Mid-Michigan Marine Club members and prospective members may attend our March meeting. Please RSVP so we know how many we will have.

Possibly if we don't get many members responding. I'd like to keep our group to 20-25 people.
Stay tuned to this thread and if it looks like we have space, I'll let you know. Of course if you are interested in joining MMMC, the annual dues are only $12. :)
BTW- Captive Reefs will likely do another sponsor tour in April...we can set up something similar with the Trop for that trip as well.

I am not a member but would like to go as long as I do not have to work.
To be a member do you have to do anything else besides paying $12 a year?
I do not know if you have to be voted in my the other members or anything like that. :fish2:

No, to be a member, it's just the membership fee.

I guess I'm hoping we don't run into a blizzard like this in a couple weeks. If we do, it is highly likely we would reschedule. Driving 20 miles per hour from Lansing to Romulus is almost worth it for a trip to the Trop though. :)

Cindi and I are planning on attending - In fact, we're searching for a good location for "Pre-Trop" lunch and libations. Bryan - Any suggestions?

Fascinating trip to the Trop! I've never had the pleasure of listening to the reefing Patriarch, Dick Perrin, share some of his wisdom. A behind the scenes tour and the history of the Trop and various systems was worth the trip. Quite the storyteller he is! Always a pleasure seeing Bryan and the gang. I still can't believe and am quite proud of myself for not buying anything (fighting algae currently). Hope to see you all again soon. Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Perrin.

50,000 gallons of beautiful Marine life - Without a RO, DI or skimmer is sight
It was a great event. It's amazing what Dick and the crew can do with Detroit City water. :)

On behalf of the Mid-Michigan Marine Club, I'd like to thank Dick Perrin and his staff for having us yesterday. The few times I've had the pleasure of talking with Mr. Perrin, I've always learned something new....usually several several things and yesterday was no exception.
I'm looking forward to my next trip to the Keys and checking out the spot that Mr. Perrin showed us that we could collect our own corals and fish. It'll be fun testing my McGyver skills trying to make my own collection basket and net using the info that I learned yesterday.
I'm also pretty excited about my pick up from the Trop yesterday a new rock anemone and pair of anemone shrimp: :)
