I am about to upgrade my Tank (Once I decide which Aquarium Size I want).

I plan on getting all new live sand and using the existing live rock in my current tank.

Since the new live sand will contain no detritus, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate I assume all will go well.

But I want to make sure before I have any sort of catastrophe.

So my question is will using the brand new live sand cause the nitrogen cycle all over again in the new tank? :fish2:

I would use non-live sand and perhaps seed with a couple cups of your existing sand. You might also consider doing an mb-7 or prodibio biodigest regimen in your existing tank for a couple weeks before you swap the rocks over. Try to get the temp and salinity spot on between the two tanks to avoid shocking any hitchhikers like pods, bristle worms, etc.. You should have very minimal if any cycle, but you might so give it at least a little time before livestock.
