The Trop has battery powered air pumps that run on 2 D battery's that work great.

yeah you will need an air pump, you can get them from bait stores or stores like meijers i believe that sell fishing tackle.

you can always use an old car battery and a power inverter if you have one just to plug the heater and return pump into, but you would likely need one for each tank, i would only do this on the one with the most money invested.

You can also run an inverter from your car, cost about $30.00 to get for 400w can get some heaters to run.

If you have a gas water heater or stove you should still have warm water. You can put it in an old milk jug or ziplock bag and float them in your tanks to help maintain temperature. Take the propeller and shaft out of an old powerhead and if you have a cordless drill insert it in the chuck and alternate between tanks occasionally for some water movement.

good luck....chuck

The car batt and power inverter works great. I did that for 4 days last year. Ran power head lights for a shorter time then normal also fan for cooling it was summer so that was our issue. Every 5 or 6 hours hook a charger upto the batt n helped keep it charged ran our van while recharging the batt in the house n saved evverything but a kole tang that got beat up by our pinkspot gobie cause they were the 2 pigs in tank lol. Sorry ya lost power but hope its back soon for you.

I know how frustrating this is having lost an entire tank to a power outage. Hang in there and good luck.

That really sucks. A winter power outage forced me to buy a generator a couple years ago to keep my tank alive.

When you get things up and running, I can drop off some frags on my way over to PA. Keep us posted if/when you start things up again.

I'm very sorry scubamomma, it is very hard to read. Saving our tanks during a multi day power outage, especially in winter, is very difficult if not impossible. It is basically a constant vigil with difficulties multiplied by the fact that the hobbiest(s) need to attend to there own safety and needs as well. Please take some comfort in knowing that you did everything you could. Let me know when you're back up and ready.

I still have 6 tanks to drain and lr to throw out but its too cold to do now I almost froze my arm off getting the corals
