Is the rock you are "curing" completely dried, bleached or never been used kind of rock? If that's the case, you can certainly add it to your tank, after it has been sitting in salt water for two weeks. If the rock was full of dead crap, and you are "curing" or "cooking" it to get rid of all the dead stuff in and on the rock, you will need to do the cooking process for a good month before the rock is ready to use. You do need to do frequent water changes and rock scrubbing. When the ammonia and nitrites go way down or are gone, the rock is ready to use. I went 45 days on a 100 lbs of live rock and started a tank up without a hitch.

I would swish it around really good in a seperate bucket- to get the silt off.
