If your looking to rid your tank of aptasia, You can use just plain vinegar and water. I have used half vinegar and half water and nuke it till its boiling and inject the aptasia and it will kill them dedder than heck. Or another thng that works very well is to mis a kalkwasser paste and with this you can just dust them and they will ingest it and it will kill them.

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I have used the kalkwasser method and it works! I took the live rock out of the tank and put itinto a small bucket. Used a very small amount of kalkwasser and placed it directly on the aptasia. Left it for a minute or two and then gently rinsed the rock and bingo no more aptasia. Then put the rock back in the tank.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

Kalkawasser is a calcium supplement. it is German for Calcium. When you mix it with water it makes a bio available calcum for your corals.
But when you mix it into a paste it is deadly to aptaisia. And does not harm your other stock.
You can also get Joe's Juice. it is made specifically for aptaisia. Yeah if you have got that much LR then you are in for a long road. but dont give up you will eventually get it. You want to do it in doses. by using joes juice or kalk it will increase yor PH.

Kalkwasser is lime water with a natural balanced calcium/alk(reason for it's use in our systems along with the ability to aide in keeping PH levels up). Joe's Juice is simply lime+water only more pasty. I get my type 'S' at Home Depot in the concrete section. It's advised to use at your own risk as it's not a food grade and has a possibility of containing impurities. I've used it for a few years and haven't had any problems... my tank speaks for it's self.

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#00ffff#ed_cl#What you need is just a rabbid herd of pepermint shrimp... I have two that keep my tank completly free of #ed_op#FONT size=2#ed_cl#Apsatia...thye also do a might fine job at cleaning up any mess that I make...or my other critters make...heck their just an all around great addition to your clean up crew. Since you have so many asatia in your tank I would sudjest get 2-3 pepermints...keep them in quarintine for a few days... but dont feed them this should help them develop a affinity for the asatia once you put them in your tank...But I would advise caution, Make sure the specimines you get are well nourished at the LFS befor having them fast for a few days. In theory once you introduce these little divils into your tank they should tear into the asatia like a pack of wild dogs. Any way good luck. #ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl##ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#00ffff size=2#ed_cl##ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#00ffff size=2#ed_cl#tigersax7#ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

another natural way or ridding your tank from aptasia from your tank would be to get a copperband butterfly fish

i also have quite a load of aitasia. ive used pikling lime, injecting lemmon juice and i have three pepperment shrimp. they are slowly going away. the lemon juice works fast but im not sure of the ill effects. i ussally do as many as i can with 1/2 ml. the pikling lime made a mess. if possibl, i think a seperate container would be best for the lime (like brian24 said). the peperments eat a few but i was not aware of fasting them, just dumped them in. good luck - i hate those things. i had one get almost 4 inches across.

I have a copperband in one tank and he does awesome. He doesnt go for the really big ones. But I managed to get all the big ones and he does a pretty good job at keeping all the small ones at bay. And in one of my other tanks I have 3 peppermint and they do a great job as well. Either way you go works well. you can also use a Berghi nudibranch. That is all they eat. those little things are machines. the bad thinng about them is that once all the aptaisia is gone your Berghi's will starve.

I'm more prone to the natural methods, too. Although, after you find that your aptasia are axed, you'll need to suppliment feed for some sp or remove them from the system before they starve.

definately... which isnt much of a problem... besides, they add a nice touch to your tank even with no aptasia around. I never knew that about the nudibranch. Does anyone know how to keep them alive?

the only thing a berghi will eat is aptasia. I have a friend that is trying to breed them and he literally cannot keep enought aptasia in his tank. he is using a 20 gallon tank to breed them. the first 2 or 3 months was fine because the first broods just barely hatched. he has been into it abou 6 months now and the berghi are starting to decline they are running out of food. they are such poor hunter that they can literally starve if they had to move across a large tank to find new aptasia.
