#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I've got something rather odd, that I have not seen before in any of my other tanks. I can't get a picture of it, so let me try to describe.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# There are small white (1/8") "blobs" on some rocks and plants. These blobs are streaming out long thin white tentacles that actually resemble smoke. I would think this algae or some kind of garbage but these "tentacles" stream out and then zip back, as if fly fishing. I can't see any structure or something I'd call an animal that would be streaming these things but for them to go out and then reel back in so abruptly implies some kind of animal thought.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# Anyone have any ideas? This is a fairly new tank that only has live rock and a bunch of crabs in it. These things behave as if they are hunting so I have concerns about starting to add fish, in case these things are poisonous.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Help.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

either that or spaghetti worms. barnacles are reef safe but very rarely live for very long. they need a lot of food in the water. now does it look like a fan or is it just a single string? it its a single string then I would rule out a barnacle.

I hope this helps#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#That looks pretty close. The tentacles I'm seeing are extremely fine, not much thicker than a human hair. I can't get a decent photo because they are so thin... If these are in fact spaghetti worms, are they harmless?#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Thanks#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

oh yeah they are fine. they are just a basic sweeper feeder. good little snacks for your fish and inverts. nothing to worry about :D
