#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Alright, So you guys have told me that I could use just lime juice to get rid of the curly cue's/ Apsatia... Is there any bad effects that this may cause?#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

it will increase your PH. you want to do this in small doses. just kill a little bit every 3rd day or so and keep an eye on your PH and you should be fine :D

I prefer to make a paste with the Lime and use it that way with a syringe.

I like the lime to Just don't get it directly on your corals and no problems
You can get a 16oz can of pickling lime at the grocery store for around $1.65

I have never used lime before. I like the past. it clings to the aptasia and literally melts them into a blob of goo. Now when you use the lime is it liquid or is it a paste consistancy? I used some kalk paste last night as a matter of fact. Man that stuff works awesome!!!!!

Pickling lime is just pure food grade calcium same thing as your using
just cheaper as it don't say for fish tanks lol

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Ok so heres another question i've got the lime juice and CANNOT find pickling lime for the life of me you ask someone and they just stare at you as if they wanted to say, are you an idiot? But anyways if I have NO fish and NO corals and i just nuked the heck outa the Apsatia would it really matter if the ph levels went throught the roof?#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

Any inverts? They are not very tolerant of PH swings, it will likely have a serious impact on any microfauna (pods bristle worms etc...) crusing around as well.

agreed dakar a PH swing too big will kill the biological filtration and all of your pods. I would just get some joes juice or some kalkawasser.

yeah it is a slow process ridding a tank just knock a few of them out every few days. you want to get the bigger ones first they are the ones reproducing. When I got one of my tanks from a guy I had aptasia the size of a fifty cent piece they were huge. I think if I would of had peppermint shrimp in there with them they would of made a meal out of the poor peppermints. but slow and steady and you will get them.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I have to ask. Someone please clarify aptasia vs. a CurlyQ Anemone. I don't think they are the same at all. I had a CurlyQ before, and it never made baby aptasia's all over the tank. If a CurlyQ Anemone is a grown up Aptasia, then why didn't I have aptasia all over my tank. I really liked my CurlyQ...it was harmless and quite pretty. I say it's not aptasia, but I won't bet on it because I haven't taken the time to do a quick research on it. Tell me what you think folks!! :angel5:

wow that is one fat happy aptasia, angel- your correct curly q is not the same as aptasia curly q does not pack half the sting that an aptasia does. aptasia or glass anenome or mojano those are your MEAN 3 that you want to avoid. I have seen aptasia completly kill a clutch of xenia. literally stung it to death this took about a week for it to do this. they pack quite a punch.
