#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#hey my tank has been up and running with lvie rock in it for about 2 weeks and i have gotten a **** load of brown alage in my tank...it is on my sand and on my live rock. Is this just a normal stage ? or is it something i need to fix in my tank#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#completely normal I beleive... Well at least this is what I've been told but yeah itll go away, It happend to me my last 2 tanks i've set up so i wouldent worry about it#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

do not worry this is just a diatom bloom, this is normal when you cycle a tank. it will go away you might want to do a water change this will help combat this as well. Have you seeded your tank? what I mean by this is try and get a couple of cup fulls of sand from someone with a up and running tank this will help the diatom bloom as well. but this is all a normal process in the cycle.

this is a good indication that you are peaking your nitrogen, Nitrogen is the primary food that algae consumes. Another thing is are you using tap water or RODI water? If you are using tap water that is a big part of the problem as well. Tap water has high nitrates and phosphates as well as silicates. This is all stuff that algae eats.

Good time for your clean crew. You may want to check your phosphate level. I was told this was normal, but found a high phosphate level was causing the problem. Of course I am a new at this so take it for what it is worth
