#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Hello....I'm new tosaltwater reefing (6mo.)and need some help. I have a 50g bowfront tank with an Angel (of some kind-he's beautiful, black, purple white, stripes) and a very fat saebae. Also have 2 damselsand $175 worth of rock and sand. I want to eventually get to a reef tank and was told by my LFS I need a skimmer asap. They have one for about $100 but I would like some advice on what to get before I shell out that kind of cash. I know nothing about skimmers so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

Are you running with a sump or would this have to be a hang-on type of skimmer?

$100 sounds like a cheapo for a med sized tank... most of the more dependable will be closer to $200. Like Dakar said, for a sump or hang-on???

I'm going to assume that it's going to need to be a HOB (i could very well be wrong and probably am) but if your on a budget, the remora costs about 200 and is an OK skimmer from what I have heard. It's not top of the line, but if you want top of the line... your looking to shell out a good 400+ IMO.
