Well work has begun on the latest project. The 75g peninsula style tank will be the display piece in my living room. I'm currently working on the stand that I am building and a canopy will be added. Her's a couple progress pics of it where it will most likely be set up. Ignore the mess, the loveseat will be going where my current tank is and I haven't finished cleaning up after moving.

Didn't get much done this weekend on the build. I did get the back painted black and also painted the overflow black because I thought the gray would look weird with a black background. I also siliconed the overflow into place. Its starting to look good.

So my mp40 was making a considerable amount of noise so I found a fix for it. Took it apart and found that one of the bearing was faulty. One $7 bearing later and its dead silent. If your pump is under warranty I would not do this but mine was an original gen 1 so this method was better than buying a new $220 dry side and was much quicker.

Found the procedure for fixing it here

Still using the old beast. Its about 8in too short but with the rockscape I'm not too worried about that. Next portion of the project is building at least the structure to the hood so i can hang the light up. Hopefully at the end of the month when I get paid I can get the rest of the stand and canopy going.

Only 40b's. One is slated for a cichlid tank. The other is for a frag tank setup along with the 50b. Thinking about a couple more 40b's. Also looking at the possibility of breeding.

Nobody yet. The 50b was already drilled since it was an old setup. If I get the 40's drilled it will be through preuss or possibly myself since I keep needing holes drilled and that keeps adding up lol

If it is a Aqueon 40b it is tempered glass, all of it.
I checked with the company and that is what they told me.

If it is a Aqueon 40b it is tempered glass, all of it.
I checked with the company and that is what they told me.

So now I'm confused. I checked aqueon's site and they say the bottom of a 40b in not tempered. Ahhh what to do, what to do.

Time for an update, tanks been doing pretty well for the past couple months. Everything seems to be settling in after the move. My frag system is up and running, just need to get corals into it now. I’ve been working on slowly rebuilding my stock of corals when I get the spare cash to do so. Took these updated shots of the tank over the last couple days.

Well I'm having a high nitrate issue right now. I haven't quite nailed down the cause. I may have stirred up a bunch of detritus on my last water change. I've got another 15g of fresh saltwater mixing right now to do another big water change to combat the nitrates.

I also got some progress done on the tank yesterday. I finally got all the electrical stuff mounted under the stand so my tanks area doesn't look like a jumble of cords.

Well I haven't updated this in quite some time. I spent the last couple days moving my frag growout system from the spare room into the room where my main tank was. I then spent last night re-plumbing the 75g tank into the grow out system. I now only have one setup running instead of 2. Total water volume is right at about 150g. I'm hoping that combining the systems will allow for more stable water parameters and overall easier maintenance. I'll try and snap some new pictures of the whole setup soon.

Well I will be very busy this long weekend. I was wandering Preuss this afternoon and found a brand new looking 65g breeder drilled 3 times for drains and once for a return in their used section for a cool $40. I traded a couple tanks i had laying around for it, but had to buy the bulkheads for it. But all in all, a steal for $30. I am going to cap off one of the drains because i have no need for 3 drains. It will replace the 40g breeder on the top of my second stand. This will eventually be a second display tank/growout tank

I also picked up supplies to finally finish off the second stand and canopy. I'm hoping to swap out tanks tomorrow and start work on trimming out the stand.

Haha it's nice being a half mile away, but it means my debit card is out of my wallet a lot.

Pretty sure I figured out why it was dirt cheap though lol. Whoever drilled the drains put one so close to the overflow you can't put a bulkhead on like you normally would. I flipped it around and it just barely fit.

The hits keep on coming. I just unloaded a ton of stuff I picked up off of Craigslist. I bought an entire 40g long tank with some of the best looking live rock I have seen for an incredibly low price. It is covered in coralline and mostly shelf pieces and a huge Tonga rock. I already traded the hang on skimmer off the setup for some much needed salinity salt mix. My 40g breeder on the setup is now packed full of rock until I get the 65g breeder into place.

Speaking of the 65g breeder, I got the back painted today. I had hoped to get more done on the setup today but I didn't expect to pick up another tank today. I plan on adding a couple 2x4s to the stand the 65g will go on to strengthen it up a little more. But that will have to wait a few days because I am heading to my fiances cabin for a couple days of much needed rest on this long weekend.

Every thing's looking nice. I don't recall, are both tanks plumbed together, or are you running them separately?

They share the 40g sump in the last picture.

On a side note, be sure to always check your PVC connections. I added in an extension tube with a couple of couplers. I was in a rush so I didnt glue everything together, just press fit everything together. Unfortunately one of the couplers was positioned right over my GFCI for the whole system. Luckily I figured out the burning smell and sizzling sound and my house didnt burn down. Everything has been torn apart and glued together properly. I could share some very scary pictures of my outlet lol.
