I came from the world of 2x250MH's with some shimmer... now with testing these LED's it seems like the shimmer is almost annoying there is so much.

Is it because it is coming from so many different sources? I guess I need to get use to it.

It's coming from your surface movement. Less movement=less shimmer :)

I know that... but its so much its annoying.

I guess my question is... is this normal with LED's? (MH shimmer times about 10)

I think it differs with the distance of the led fixture, I've found it to be alot though. On my 3gal I ended up frosting the acrylic with spray paint to diffuse the light and it helped.
