early clean up crew....during cycle?

Are there any snails, crabs, or shrimp that are hardy enough to withstand elevated nitrate levels while my tank cycles? I would like to find something else to enjoy that might help my tank out. The inside of the glass is just starting to get kind of gross.

Any suggestions...or would I just end up killing the poor things?

Do you have your tank lights on while you are cycling? How long have you been cycling so far, and what is your nitrate level currently, along with the rest of your parameter? This info would be helpful in order to give you as accurate of an answer as possible. :) I bet you can't wait til it's ready! I remember how I felt!!
