My fuzzy dwarf lionfish (i just purchased) hasn't eaten for about 8
days...(he may have eaten a green chromis) and i'm starting to get
worried. I've tried frozen gamma (shrimp), frozen krill, frozen
silversides, and freeze dried krill. I have put them in the water and
watched them go right past him and he doesn't want anything to do with
the food. I also took chop sticks and made the food move and he gets
interested but not enough to eat them. I need some good techniques for
feeding frozen/ freeze dried food...and I would also like some live
food options. It seems like none of the LFS around me have live feeder
shrimp, all they have is gold fish feeders, guppys, or rosey reds.
Would rosey reds have a sufficient amount of nutrients for the lion to
live well? Any other ideas for food would be greatly appreciated!!#ed_op#br#ed_cl#

But, I've heard many places that goldfish and guppies are not of enough nutrientritional value for the lionfish to live. Also, someone answer my question about rosey reds please. Ok, any fish i can buy to eat my frozen and freeze dried foods?

guppies and goldfish lack lipids, but they do have some good stuff in them, the idea is just to get him eating for now and then try to get him to eat frozen, you might try soaking the frozen food in garlic also, that will stimulate him

Try going to walmart and seeing if they have ghoast shrimp. I know it sounds silly but I live in a pretty small town and my FS dosn't sell feeder shrimp but walmart has them for like 26 cents each. Its worth a shot. Good luck, it sucks to have a fish that won't eat.

Plus you don't have to feed the lion daily. It just hunts them and eats them when it is hungry. An extra bonus.....they will clean up the tank just like other scavengers, untill they are lunch, lol (They will eat just about any food you feed your tank)#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#It's fun to watch the lion stalk the shrimp, here one second, gone the next. Ummmm Ummm Gooood ; )#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Angie#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

I just went to my LFS and some guy told me they didn't have ghost shrimp or anything, and I went up again and sure enough, he was WRONG... I was alittle upset but this guy doesn't seem to know much about anything but everyone else helps out alot. How long will these freshwater shrimp (ghost) live in a saltwater aquarium?
