This month's topic is Show Your Colors...lets see your team spirit by entering corals or fish that have the colors of the sports team you like the most. You may enter up to three (3) times...it doesn't have to be the same team each time. For example, you might go with Red Wings, Lions, and Michigan.

To enter you will need to add your coral entries to the Coral Collector Forum (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/coral-collector/) or add your fish entries to the Fish Finder Forum (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/fish-finder/). When you post your thread include your team in the post so we know what team you're rooting for. :)

Be sure to select the Show Your Colors from the drop down when you add your entries in the Fish Finder or Coral Collector Forum. When you create the threads in Coral Collector and/or Fish Finder you must also complete the thread fields to the best of your knowledge. Completion of the fields will be taken into accounts when choosing the finalists.

If you want a little more information on how to add your corals to the Coral Collector or Fish Finder forum, here is a tuturial (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/site-issues-feedback/how-use-showcase-forums-coral-collector-video-17333/).

This month's prize is a large magnetic frag shelf manufactured by The Alternative Reef (http://thealternativereef.com). The retail value of this prize approximately $90! It is a large size...about a foot long in total. Here are some pics:

In addition, the winner will have a golden camera award placed in his or her postbit and will be featured on the CR homepage. The winner will also serve as a judge for the next two photo contests.

The last day to submit photos is August 31, 2011.
Rules

1. Photos must be uploaded to either the Coral Collector Forum (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/coral-collector/) or the Fish Finder Forum (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/fish-finder/).
2. You can enter up to three times.
3. The photo must be your own.
4. Try to submit a photo that is at least 640x480 resolution. **
5. The previous two (2) POTM winners are ineligible to win.

*Submitting a photo entry is acknowledgment that it may be modified and used for future site graphics on CR with credit given to the owner.
**Please retain higher resolution versions of your photos. We may need a higher resolution shot to make them work with the site graphics after the contest.

Selection of the Winning Photo

Based on the number of entries submitted, a number of semi-finalists (10% of the entries will be semi-finalists) will be selected by jimsflies and the previous two POTM winners. Semi-finalists will be posted for the general membership to vote on their favorite. In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be reposted for a tie breaking vote with the general membership. Should we receive 10 or less entries, the judging panel will decide the winner. Photos will be judged on topic, composition, and quality.

You don't have to add any graphics or photoshop your photos...just a coral or fish that has your favorite team's colors in it.

OK...I think there has been massive confusion on this contest. I think you all are making this contest far more complicated than I intended.

I am not expecting (...but you can if you want to) you to submit coral photos that contain a team logo.

Just taking a quick glance at the coral collector I thought I would give some examples:

You might submit this paly... then in the thread text you can just say "Go Bucks" or whatever (because it has the colors of scarlet and grey in the polyp).
http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/attachments/coral-collector/everlasting-gobstoppers-newpics0024-1.jpg-2945d1308687630

Or this blue and yellow paly pic could be submitted and then in the thread text say "Go Blue"
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g5/skyhighpics/My%20Tank/newpics0011-4.jpg

Or this purple hornet (yellow and purple) could be submitted if you are an LSU fan:
http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/attachments/coral-collector/purple-hornets-newpics0009-2.jpg-2942d1308686348

Or these clove polyps could be submitted for Lions (grey and blue):
http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/attachments/coral-collector/blue-clove-polyps-imag0530.jpg-3203d1311741023

Any college or pro team colors are fine...and it can be any sport. You can also submit a fish picture in the Fish Finder forum.

Corals do not have to be your own, however photos must be your own. Also if you already have submitted the coral in the coral collector or fish finder, please do not resubmit it. While I would prefer unique entries if you really want to use one you have already submitted, please send me a pm and I will add it to the contest.

Hope this helps clarify a little and opens it up to more people submitted photos.

The goal here is to have a fun contest while we build our database of corals and fish. This database will hopefully become a nice resource for our members to use to help find corals and fish to stock their tanks. Be sure when you submit an entry to fill the fields out to the best of your knowledge and to title the thread the common name for the coral (you wouldn't name the purple deaths "LSU polyps"...they would still be called "Purple Deaths").

Yeah bill...its more of a photo contest than photoshop contest. I dont mean to squash the great creativity, but I want members ti know they dont need to be a photoshop guru or own an expensive software to enter the contest.

You did a good job...you can post it in a coral collector with the real picture as the main image and add your fancy team image to to the post.
