Sponcer/Table Holder/Vendor Information-

Unless other arangments have been made, please paypal chrispatmac@comcast.net for your table reservations to be finalized. For those who have not made arangments or already paid, I will need payment to finalize your spot. Please send me a PM, note, or anything else to distinguish who is who on the paypal table payments. There have been a couple payments and I am unsure who's table they are for.

Also- part of the table cost is a raffle donation. If you could, the sooner the better, get a picture, or even a description of what you intend donate, it would be appreciated. We would like to be able to post what all is going to be available for the raffle ahead of time, and give credit for the donations where credit is due. Pics are always a plus!!!

We will be opening the doors at 9:30 am, for plenty of time for vendor set up!

Table restriction exceptions-

You may have a larger than 50 gallon tank if supplying your own table that will support this weight.

If you cant, for one reason or another, get under power restrictions, let me know. Might be able to plan location accordingly, to compensate the over power usage. Please make sure I am contacted ahead of time.

Lansing is for sure the best one of the year! My all time favorite, and hope to never miss a single one. The Cranbrook conference is awesome also. All great swaps. I one day hope to make it to the Grand Rapids swap. I have heard its incredible!!

The AnnArbor swap has yet to be a let down, and it has quickly become one of those swaps not to miss. We have packed every location, no matter the size venue, and even had to turn away tables, the last 2 years so far! Looking forward to another great year!!!

Should have some room to breath in the new, much, much larger location this year- which will be nice! Last 2 years have been jammed packed!

2011 Ann Arbor Swap to be Broadcast Live

We’re planning on a live broadcast of this year’s Ann Arbor Swap. We’ll be on the air about an hour before the swap begins with our “Vendor Showcase” – a 60 second visit with all available vendors giving you an early preview of the show floor and an opportunity to meet the vendors and get glimpse of what they have available.

In addition to the Vendor Showcase, we’ll cover much of the swap including the raffle and post-event social. There is also a chat feature - We’ll have a laptop setup streaming audio and video enabling those who can't attend to interact with those on-site (and put a face with a screen name.) Everyone able to attend make sure you visit the video station and introduce yourself to our remote attendees!

We’re just working out the final details and will post the website for access in the next couple of days.

Coral Sea Dreaming - Awaken

Another addition to this year’s swap – We’ll be previewing David Hannan's Coral Sea Dreaming – Awaken (http://www.coralseadreaming.com/). This film was just introduced at MACNA to rave reviews. The dive photography is stunning and the narration inspiring. Everyone will enjoy this production (in Blue Ray HD), including children that might otherwise be bored at a swap event.

Please feel free to add any comments or suggestion to see to this thread. We’re hoping to see you at the swap – either in person, or virtually!

-Tom

Working on a table layout.....having a hard time getting in touch with a few table holders. Might be a couple days.

I have though, figured out a way, that there will be no bad table placments. All locations will be good, with the layout I have in mind. No one, that doesnt want to be, will be in a corner, or out of the mix.

...Join Us Live!...

We've been working with the venue to resolve WiFi issues to support our broadcast and beleive we've secured enough bandwidth to enable the live broadcast. We'll be on the air with the vendor showcase at 12:00, a walk-through after the swap opens and coverage of the raffle.

During all other times, the Video Station will be online (located directly in front of the stage and raffle area) allowing attendees and exhibitors to introduce themselves and interact with remote viewers.

Live A2 Swap video and audio feed A2Reef on USTREAM: .@@AMEPARAM@@cid=9356917@@AMEPARAM@@9356917
Interactive Viewing - The chat interface allows remote viewers to interact directly with swap attendees in real time. I'll also be able to see the comments within the camera viewer while filming the Vendor Showcase, so feel free to comment or pose questions for the exhibitors or attendees.

Click Here for the Live Video, Audio and Interactive Chat (http://www.captivereefs.com/forum/CR-Live.html)

We're also going to try and have a live feed from the after swap social event so everyone can join us for a "virtual libation" :) A recording of the event will be available online for later access. Make sure you stop by the video station, introduce yourself!

Sir Patrick

Quick note to new swappers!!!!

make sure to bring a cooler for your purchases!!! An empty 20oz bottle w/ warm water can help keep things warm!

---------- Post added at 04:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:06 PM ----------

Try to bring exact change for the entrance...it'll make it go quicker at the door.

Sir Patrick
09-24-2011, 03:16 PM
And vendors/table purchasers-

Make sure to bring an extension chord! A Power strip will be necessary if more than 1 plug is needed!! Already warm water, premixed with saltwater is a huge help also.

Water dispensing need to go out the front door, or back door, and needs dumped on the concreate. Please NO DUMPING OF SALTWATER ON THE GRASS!!!! There is plenty of room in the parking lot to dump any unwanted saltwater.

If we can keep water spills to a minimum, that will be great! We will be on a carpeted surface at this swap. We understand there will be some spillage, but keeping it to a minimum will help out greatly with clean up after the show.

Looking forward to another great swap!!!!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Sir Patrick, and all of the A2 area reefers that helped put this together, it was an excellent swap, the layout was great I especially liked the tables in the central area to sit down for awhile. Great hobbyists /vendor selection as always and you guys really did a good job picking a facility, it was very nice.

I saw that but was wondering if there was more like the whole show as well as when they stopped at different tables would be cool to see!

Despite our best efforts in preparing to broadcast the A2 swap live yesterday - we ran into significant technical issues. The largest of which was that despite assurance by the venue, there was virtually no bandwidth available on-site (<200kbs upstream.) This meant we were unable to upload any live video content using the WiFi at the venue.

The workaround was to create a mobile hotspot using my phone, while using the camera on the same phone for the broadcast - obviously not an ideal arrangement.

We were able to stream much of the swap including the interviews with those vendors that particpated in the Vendor Showcase and a breif clip from the post-swap social event. Due to reasons that Ustream has yet been able to identify - The main recording of the event is not currently available online. I'm working with them to identify the problem and recover the video, unfortunately their customer service leaves much to be desired.

I'll post an update and numerous still photos from the event later today.

Thank you to all those that particpated yesterday. We'll get the bugs worked out for next years's swap.

I had a great time!!!

Thank you Jstan, Willbattle, Cashfan83 and Wife, and Monstertankman, for all the help setting up and breaking down the swap, along with selling raffle tickets and helping keep it all organized and keep everyone happy and running smoothly! It wouldnt have gone near so smooth without you guys!

Thanks to my wife and oldest daughter for working the door, and helping sell raffle tickets! My mother and father in law for cooking up some delicious sloppy joes, chips, and cookies, while watching my youngest, during the swap!

The knights of columbus, for donating their time for beverage services and providing such a nice venue for this years swap.

2Pairs, who behind the scenes has been very busy on the swap. He has developed a website for the club, a2reef.com , created cards, printed t-shirts for me, himself, corvette reefer and paulo, so we could be easily found, and also built the light for the raffle tank! Along with setting up and cleaning up after the swap.

Paulo- For keeping me on track, and as always- calling the raffle. Not to mention setting up/breaking down.

Corvette Reefer, couldnt have done it without you! He did most of the physical labor, packing up, breaking down, Making sure we had everything needed, and have it in the car and for making us the background music CD for the swap!

Calmseasquest! Great effort put forth into the live stream. I am sorry it didnt work out this year.....I know you spent many hours setting this up, and getting it all together to make it happen. Cant beleive we couldnt get any bandwidth in that place....We will have it good for next year! Your efforts, along with the idea, are greatly appreciated!

Gotta thank all the great sponcers, vendors and table holders, along with donators from the club!-

Meisen, Happy corals, PaulsCorals, Saltcreeps, Paradice Corals, CaptiveReefs, Zoantharia, Dknuckles, mikezalewski, MyNemesis, Evb9, Pazazz, TM01, JStan, Jduck, Cherry corals, ScottCRRT, BarkingShark Corals, PJR,The Fish Doctors Ypsilanti, Pacific East Aquacultures, daddybiggs, kane720, corvette reefer, and Jbardwell for all the GREAT Raffle donations!!!!

It was an excellent raffle! Best one yet, easily! Looking forward to seeing you all again, either at the next swap, or next year, at the next A2 Area Frag Swap!!!! Glad to hear you all enjoyed it, and thaank you to everyone that had a hand in it! Wouldnt be what it was without you guys!
