the link does not work. have all the tables been this expensive in the past at this swap? The last few swaps I went to were $25. just wondering why these are a bit more. is it really worth it to pay 3x the amount as the other swaps!

i was wondering the same thing, i would def pay 25$ to be a vendor but the 80-90$ is a bit steep. guess i wont be a vendor in this one.

can someone fill me in a bit here? i hear that this is always worth going to but never hear exactly what goes on here. how is it set up? what really goes on at this thing? it's on my birthday this year and i think i can convince the girl to come with me.

jimsflies

The prices are higher because they need to cover the cost of the speakers.

Sir Patrick
09-30-2011, 09:45 PM
The location, I would think, should also demand a higher cost. Looks like it is being passed on to the table holders, who will make a profit, and not to those attending the swap- which is very cool. I enjoy the cranbrook institute of science, every time I go, which is included with admission.

The speakers are definitly an experiance too. If it werent for my job, I would definitley be getting a full pass!

Time for some conference updates!

We've added a few new vendors since my last update we are pleased to have Pazzaz, Wilco1rd, Reefer T's, And Midwest Saltwater to the list of vendors this year.
Check out http://mmc.masm.org/Exhibitors.aspx (http://mmc.masm.org/Exhibitors.aspx) for the full list of vendors so far.

Reed Mariculture is the latest sponsor of the Conference. Reed is providing us with another round of goodie bags and will be bringing some raffle items as well. Thanks to Reed Mariculture for their continued support.

We have developed a smartphone web app that will hopefully make keeping track of what is going on and when a little easier. You can view the webapp by going to http://mmc.masm.org/mobile (http://mmc.masm.org/mobile) don't worry if you don't remember the address because we will have QRCodes at the event that will take you right to the site.

This year we are making some changes to the way we do our raffle that we hope will make it run more quickly and efficiently. For starters we are switching to a chinese style raffle ticket
http://mmc.masm.org/pix/chinese_auct.gif

These style tickets means there are a lot less numbers to keep track of as each sheet contains 25 tickets all with the same number. So instead of keeping track of 100 different numbers during the drawing you only have to watch out for 4.. Way easier!

Also rather than trying to shout out numbers to the crowd we will run a scrolling list of raffle items and the ticket numbers as they are drawn on the overhead scree in the exhibit hall. This same list can be viewed from the mobile site I mentioned above. When you see your number come up just take you ticket to the raffle area and pick up your prize.. This should make the raffle run much smoother as ticket numbers will be easier to locate and you don't have to worry about not hearing your number get called.

Due to scheduling issues at the hotel the reception will now be held in the Woodward banquet room located on the lower level of the Radisson, not the Presidential suite. Check with the front desk for directions. The reception starts at 7pm and is open to all Full-Conference Pass holders, vendors and speakers.

Various appetizers and pizza will be on hand during the reception. We will have a limited amount of adult beverages, if you a special drink preference feel free to bring it with you. Since we will have this room to ourselves we can talk fish as much as we like and not have to worry about the general public wondering what the heck we're talking about! I want to thank everyone involved in putting on this conference. You guys really put in a lot of work and we were extremely impressed with how smooth everything went. Even in the mass chaos toward the end, no volunteers were too busy to answer questions.

The speakers were awesome and there was plenty of time given between them and the next event in case the speakers ran over or people had questions after (which ever one did!)

I loved how smooth the raffle went with the Chinese style raffle tickets. That really simplified watching for your stuff and made the raffle move that much faster. The mobile app was very useful and other than my pretty much dead battery at the end because of the constant refreshing in excitement of the next item to come up (reminded me of a woot off) I was very impressed with how technology was used during this event.

I would love to see what you all could do with an event like MACNA! I can't say enough about how impressed we were with this and will definitely be back in the future. Thank you again!

Thanks! We're glad you had a good time. You can thank Chad for setting up the tech stuff, he did a great job.

Great Event, I hope everyone had as good as time as I did! The loot bags were very cool! Got a couple cool monti frags. My only regret was not getting in on the raffle, had to leave around 3:30, but next year for sure.

Thanks to MASM for much hard work. Good to see some new vendors there as well: -Reefer Tees, Dr.MAC, Talbot's etc....Thanks all!
