Thought I'd share some pics with everyone of my latest creation, one that really works.
Combination of several different skimmer designs, tried to take the best parts of each and mash them into one.

Need to step down the pump, using a Mag7 now, even by choking it down with 1/2" PVC it's still too much, need to order a Mag5 and try that.

Heh heh....great idea taking the best of all designs. Your right....it is kinda big and ugly....but if it works great and you have the space....who cars.......more money for the main tank!! Nice job, DIY's rock!

Does it have two collection cups? What is the shorter one on the left?

The shorter on on the left is actually another skimmer, my first attempt at a DIY skimmer.... actually works quite well most of the time, just a MJ1200 running it with a small venturi. Just seems to go bonkers every couple of months, dumps about 10 gals up to the collection cup, with a 1G jug as the final container it makes a pretty good mess, and always at the worst possible time.....

Great job like to do something like that but unfortunately i don't have much room
with a small sump under the tank i have to have something more compact

Going to let her run for a few more days, but not very happy with it... lousy foam production and not really pulling anything major out of the water :( Started like gang busters but short lived. The little one has been doing great for months, but even now is not doing jack.

Getting ready to just shell out the bucks and just order a pre-fab while I sort things out and see if that helps. Looking at the RedSea Berlin jobbers....anyone got an opinion on them?

I want a skimmer, I want a skimmer, I want a skimmer!!! When my corals aren't smiling...... umm.... It has done wonderful up til now, but now it's done! :( He'd better not sleep to soundly or the corals will creep out of the tank and get him in the night and SLIME him!! Then I'll let the puppies loose!!! hehehehehe.....

Love to build stuff... but I actually just got off the phone, ordered a Berlin Turbo for the 55 for now, while I work some bugs out of things, sides I got at least another month or better before I can really do anything with the new tank, so I'll have at least a place to play without hurting anything, it's time that is becoming hard to come by.

Well don't forget us with that skimmer you have there. We have that big 180 that's full of water and cycling as we speak. We can't wait to make that beautiful! We always wonder why we're broke though. lol
