tanglovers aka Scott Yonkers has joined our CR moderation staff. Scott is very active in the reefing community. Scott maintains a ~500 gallon sps reef, with several difficult and rare angelfish, as well as other highly sought fish species. He also is an accomplished marine fish breeder with several species in his breeding program. Scott also serves on the board of directors with the Grand Rapids Marine Aquarium Society. Besides marine species Scott also is into freshwater stingrays.

I know CR's members will benefit from Scott's knowledge, experience, and passion for reefkeeping. Please join me in congratulating Scott on his promotion to the mod staff.

A little about me. I have been in this hobby (or lifestyle as my wife calls it) for about 8-9 years now. Started out with a 29 gallon and kept upgrading to our current setup. My wife and I started out as tangs being our passion (thus the screen name) and then moved into wrasses then angels and now keep a mix of them all. I bred my first clownfish a little over 6 years ago and have done some other easier fish species as well now.

Our saltwater current setups include:

900ish gallon SW reef system - 520 gallon display (96" x 42" x 30") with a 150 gallon and 100 gallon plumbed into them as my conditioning tanks and for some bubble tip anemones these all drain into a common sump.

70ish gallon non-photo, subtropical system in our living room - 60 gallon display (36" x 22" x 18") rimless with some rare deeper water fish.

150ish gallon broodstock system with all my breeding clowns (10 pairs these days)

2 x 140ish gallon growout systems for the juvenile fish

3 x 50 gallon QT tanks that are running all the time

About a year ago we decided to get into freshwater stingrays and put in an additional 520 gallon display tank in the basement for these. Currently a couple adult females (18" across) a fly river turtle, black arowana and some various other fish in there. My adult male resides in a different tank other then breeding times.

I have a lot of experience in this hobby but am by no means an expert. I still learn new things all the time. All of my systems are setup to be energy efficient and easy maintenance. I tank a long time to do my builds and plan for failure in the sense of equipment and have redundancy built in.

I have a couple threads out here but they have not been updated in quite some time. The ray tank was just completed about 3-4 months ago so the build on this put the SW tanks on the back burner for a while.
