Curious who else built thier own skimmers.... Here's your chance to show off too! My latest monstrosity can be seen in the DIY thread, along with my first attempt that is still churning away, nobody ever said they had to be pretty.

Dakar, one of the wwrc members made his own skimmer.....resembels an aquac but cost him $40 to build and it works like a damn maniac. I can try to get some pics for you if you want.

Definately.... I'm sure a lot of others would like to see as well... Think I have a total of about $12 in my latest creation (obviously not counting the pump).

I'm a nutcase when it comes to DIY, even though some things got out of control and cost me more than buying it would have. Still more fun to DIY.

I run a Red Sea Prism and I am not impressed. I haven't really thought of building a DIY skimmer but hey why not for 12 bucks. I would love to see those plans GT.

My Reef Creations Beckett skimmers. :D

Worth every penny IMO. Probably coulda built one a little cheaper, but not of the same quality.

:smt064 making an offer like that and holding back is just plain mean to some of us fools that think they can build anything...

BTW found the problem with one of my DIY skimmers, oddly enough a MJ1200 losses a lot of its efficiency to chop up air when a rubber band in wrapped around the impeller blades, still pumps water okay though. only find this out when I took it down to install the new Berlin Turbo that arrived today :banghead:

Skimmer...whazat? ;) thus far I have been letting nature take care of its self in my 10 gal....gone about 3 months now just doing 10% water changes ever 2-3 weeks........I thought about building a skimmer (which I will do if/when I decide I want a skimmer) but decided to wait and see how things do biologically.....I'm a big fan of the "K.I.S.S." mentality.... ;)

I think any one would take one for that. I have a SeaClone 100 on my 55 gal and nothing on my 5.5 gal. The SeaClone is nosier and puts way to many air bubbles in if you use it right. But it is getting stuff out of my tank. Even if I can only run it during the day.

i just picked up a WON Brothers "Clean-up" 200 on ebay and the design looks great, the packing was good item arrived intact and so far everything works. The price was $109 shiped and that was $300 less than my LFS. I figured there are no moving parts in it so what can go wrong. Time Will Tell.

Is there anywhere on this site that you can do a write up on new products. I just spent $1500 on new stuff and would like to let people know whats a good buy and what on E-bay is crap. I have 50lbs of LR coming today on a Jet from FL to Manchester NH. The shipping was cheaper than UPS ground and it will be landing at 4pm. The e-bay user is drooping it off at the airport at 11Am today(hows that for fast shipping) the cost, $154 for the 50lbs and the same day shipping. i will let people know what the stuff looks like. The e-bay user has 100% feedback all for LR and LS. his price is $2.15 lb. i will look around the site and keep you all posted

Sure is, use the vendor's review forum for now, I suppose we should either create a product review forums as well at some point in the future, but feel free to use that forum for both for now,

Curious to see how that WON skimmer does, I've been watching the auctions for a while now but not seen any reviews.
