Whipped together a crappy drawing of how overflow boxes work and how they should be designed to prevent breaking the siphon of feeding U-tube in the event of a power failure.

Figured I'd post it so everyone could make fun of my lousy photoshop skills. But may help someone understand how they *should* work and mayhaps prevent a lot of water from hitting the floor.

Dakar,

The "optional' divider is what prevents the siphon from being broken, isn't it?

The 'optional divider' prevents the siphon from being broken if the return drain is below the water level of the tank or the U-tubes. Additionally if you use slip fittings on the bulkhead, they may leak over time and cause the water level to drop, the divider will help as an addition gaurd against this from breaking the siphon if the water level drops too.
