nice goby.....you are well on your way into a real cool adventure.....r u planning a fish tank a coral reef or a litttle of both? just something to think about.....you gotta be careful what you put all together.....i try to remember to ask, "is it reef safe?" cuz i know im gonna have some coral in there....n i dont want critters munchin on it....and if you look at there little mouths on "some" of the fish you can see if they have what appears to be like powerfull jaws and kinda beaky mouths....be kinda careful with them....but thats not the only indicator....i believe and dont quote me that most of the angels are prone to eating that coral....not always but thehy will pick at it sometimes....the mandarin dragonette has a beaky mouth but eats little critters (copepods) so a little research goes along ways. dont forget to ask questions....but whats better is googling.....nice job so far pat....
do you have any corals in there?

Yea I plan on doing a little of both coral and fish in my tank. Yea like I said I had help from mouthstofeed picking stuff out this weekend. But I spend over an hour or two a day online researching and I enjoy it. So far in my tank I just have some GSP and xenia both of which seem to be doing well. The next fish I will be looking for is a good deal on a or some clowns and possibly a yellow tang unless I come across something else interesting. This goby though is great, he is so active he hasn't stopped sifting and building his little den since I got him. I also plan on getting him a pistol shrimp as a companion when I find one.

that sounds great....just make sure you know that your fish are reef friendly....or if you want to take a chance....know that the fish you choose might just sorta pick at your coral.....i had an angel that didnt pick at my coral most of them do pick....he ate the mysis shrimp....and i think by keeping em well fed it seemed as though the desire to pick was less.....but thats the chance we take....some people have a fish tank as well as a reef tank.
clowns are nice...they will host is a lot of different corals....mine host in a hairy mushroom....i personally stayed away from the anemone for my clowns....i didnt want my other stuff getting stung....im sure there are a lot of people using anemones though....but just starting out in this thing i didnt want to lose too much stuff and then get dis interested in it. i took the advice "mostly" from a respected friend and it worked....the things i lost were when i got off of his direction.
when you choose your clowns there are many to choose from....i love the maroon ones but i think they are pretty agressive....check it out....im glad your doing the research...youll be glad too.
the tropicorium is a great place to shop too !!!! its well worth the drive. the guys are great there....not that i have anything against any of the guys there....i just kinda hung close to Bryan....he more or less took me under his wing...and i am greatfull...will be getting something soon from there when money comes in......i think i have room for a nice birdsnest.

hey pat....i dont know if you know it but you can take pics of your tank and have your own album with your photos for others to see as well as a record for yourself to keep track of your progress like the size of your stuff 6 months later...thats kinda nice cuz most of this stuff grows real slow.and you begin to wonder is it growing at all....my stuff grows slow because thats the way i want it....do i want it to grow a little faster yes,,,,but i dont want to have to be a serious serious serious reefer....i want to have fun with it and not be a super duper chemist...so my stuff grows slower...thats not to say you need to be a chemist...its just easier for me.....so if you want to post some pics in your very own album for others to see....even though your just starting your reef...i believe you go to member tools and then to my album up at the top...to get started...i personally go to others albums while im chatting with them...it sorta can give you something to chat about....you know?
