#1 What is the stable temp of your system???

#2 How do you moderate that temp(fans, chillers, heaters, etc)?

#3 Why do you feel that you're keeping your system best at this temp?

#4 Any tips or suggestions???

120 gal. & 45 gal. combo system goes from 77 to 80. Only have a small fan on the 120. Heaters in the sump, fuge and 45gal.

110 SPS goes from 78 to 81. Small fan runs all the time and a 300w heater in the tank itself.

1.81
2.4" fan and 200w heater
3.I like to run it a tad warm in case of fan failure,AC failure,etc.. That way,the max temp will only get to about 85 and a 4 degree swing is alot less stressful that 7-8
4. none

heater is set for 78 with 2* 3" fans on a variable fan control.

#4 Fans and more Fans for me the chiller is to expensive with stable

Keep the 55 dead on at 80, 300 watt heater in the return area of the sump, cooling is automatic with the sump in the basement which stays a constant 65ish, evaporation takes about 2 gallons per day without fans. Now this has been through the summer. The real test will be once the woodstove and fireplace get fired constantly.

The 180 is still cycling at 84*, a temp 200 watt heater is holding it there, waiting for the sump and such to be built.
Why 84? Curious to see if higher temps yeild faster bacteria reproduction, not that I have any way to measure this, just hoping it will reduce the cycle time so we can start populating the tank.

Mine stays between 79 and 82, 300 watt heater fans while lighting is on, I agree with Dave about running thing a bit high for "just in case" I've ran things a bit lower and don't believe that the corals really metabolized the nutrients via zoanthalae or feeding although o2 was most likely, higher.

77-82 degrees is what mine runs at. Heat is a 350 watt in sump heater. For summer my hood has 2 fans with regulators for speed.

only suggestion......watch temp in summer......too high.....equals fish stew. I left for a week about 4 summers ago.....let friend house sit.....thought he'd save us money by not turning on the central air. Yup you guest it...like 98-100 degrees for 5 days. ALL inverts and corals took a beating.

78-82

300 (2x150) heaters

GT, I can sympathize. A couple summers ago, we went out of town for the weekend. Lights and fans were on timers. Never had a problem before. That weekend there was huge electrical storm and knocked the fans in to the opposite cycle then light. Not only super hot during the day but super cold at night from the fans. The only thing that lived through ii was a couple chromis, one of which is still going strong.
