I'm getting ready to start my sump with a refuge. All I have room for underneath my tank is a 10 gallon tank (10 x 20 I think). If I subtract the amount of room from each end for my skimmer pump, return pump, and all baffles I will have about 8 inches of tank left. would this be enough room to make an effective refuge or should I make a HOB style. In doing my math I come up with about 100 cubic inches more with a HOB (20 L x4.5 Wx10 tall) than with the remaining room in the sump, only that the space is more compact ( IE deeper sand bed but narrower in width). Faced with this what are some opinions of the better way to go?

that should be a good start!!!!! anything is better than nothing. if will give you enough room to grow some pods. I would throw some LR in there and some cheato.

Any more opinions? I know small is better than none, I'm just wondering which would be better, 4.5 wide but longer on the tank or 8 wide in the sump.
