In designing my sump I am trying to get as much room for a refuge as I can out of a ten gallon tank. Will the Mag 7 still work effectively if I turn it with the intake pointing up as opposed to lying vertically? I can cut my return pump part of the sump down from 10 inches long to about 5 inches long and have more room for my fuge. Any thoughts?

Sorry to bring bad news, If the intake port on the Mag7 is facing up you will likely start a vortex in the water and draw in a lot of air, that will 1) put tons of bubbles in your tank 2) potentially cause your pump to cavitate and destroy the impeller. Horizintal is the best route to go.
