this is what we decided to use for housing everything (heat sink, leds, wiring, drivers) it couldnt have worked out an better. its sleek and very streamline when its all put together. the heat sink thats in these lights is overkill meaning that its plenty big enough to keep the fixtures cool just by themselves but we figured it wouldnt hurt to throw some fans on top of the units just to circulate air over the heat sink. these things run cool as a cucumber!!! i ran one for 48 hours straight at full power and the unit didnt even heat up which i like just for safety purposes. as far as leds we went with the cree series. each light has 2 cool white cree xp-g3 (10k) 2 blue 3-up cree xp-g (460-480nm) 2 royal blue 3-up cree xp-g (450-465nm) each disk has 3 leds on it and each led is 3 watts so each disk is 9 watts. we put 3 1000mA buckblock drivers in each unit which is a little over kill but this way you can drive these things way up with out burning them out. the two fans that are in the top of the unit are installed opposite of each other meaning one is blowing air into the unit and the other is blowing it out of the unit there for there is always a constant flow or air over the heat sink.

unfortunetly we were not able to get any sort of digital timer or digital dimmer for these units but they will be on future units. the two fixtures we have now have two individual dials one controlling the whites and the other controlling the blues. when we finished building the first one i hung it 12" above my 90 gal frag tank (48x18x24) and it covers the entire tank!!! i have 8 frags of acro LPS (hammer, acans, trumpet, zoas, pink palys, lobo, welsi, chalices, favia, and some soft coral and everything is doing great. no bleacing with the sps and even the big welsi i have at the bottom of the tank is happy and looks amazing especially with only the blues are on.

Looks great! Any chance you have PAR values for these fixtures?

unfortunately no, not at this time. a par meter wasnt in the budget so im currently searching for someone thats kind of local that has one that may be willing to let me borrow it so i can get some quick readings. so for now ive just been letting all the coral do the talking for me and no matter where i put stuff there always happy. great polyp extension chalices look great and even the polyps on the sps are always out so im taking all of this has a good thing but again i am working on those par readings.

Corals can be a pretty good measure for light quantity/quality. How long has the fixture been running on your tank?

i had one running on it for a month but we just finished building the second one so the past three days there have been two on there so its a lot brighter but everything is still doing just great even with the added fixture

you asked for par readings... and thanks to jeff at reef solutions i was finally able to test my fixture out
light hanging 10" above water
350@ 1" under water
185@ 6" under water
110@ 12" under water
with a 24" spread from left to right to right. these are the readings and measurments from just one fixture. and the entire tank was covered from front to back in fact it was even overpowering the fixture that jeff had mounted above the tank to begin with.the corals that were under the MH even had better coloration and and colors that you couldnt see with either the t-5's or the MH. jeff was also gracious enough to take soem professional pics of the fixture above one of his tanks and what some of his corals looked like under the blue leds. as soon as he emails me them i will post them to give everyone a better idea of what these fixtures can actually do.

after talking to store owners, and other reefers, one of the biggest compliments these fixtures get everytime is the amount of coverage they provide for your tank. a lot of people i talked to always said the same thing most led fixtures just didnt provide full coverage of their tanks. mostly the people that build their rockwork against the back of the aquarium which created many "dead" spots along the rock work were they already had placed there coral which can be a pain to have to move everything around again especially if you glued you corals into your rock work. dont get me wrong there are plenty of great led fixtures on the market with good par measurments and good coverage from side to side but the front and back of the tanks still get cast in shadow. all this does is make people shell out more money because they have to buy more fixtures to get the amount of coverage they desire in their tanks. mind you my fixtures dont have a ton of bells and whistles on them but ive always been a straight forward kind of person. your buying leds cause there more cost efficient then replacing bulbs, cooler running temp than MH's,shimmer effect is better, just to name a few reasons. and the most important one is they GROW coral thats all we really care about in the end. thats why when we were designing our fixtures the most important thing we kept in mind was what YOU, the consumer expected out of a fixture. we have great par measurements (thanks again to jeff @ reef solutions) top of the line cree xp-g leds, compact and stylish desing, independent controls for whites and blues, plus a much larger area of coverage for your tank. this way, theres no need to have to rearrange all of you coral/frags when you switch to our fixtures. if you would like to see a live demonstration of these fixtures wether your a store employee/owner or just a consumer just message me and we can set up a time for a demonstration or depending on where you live i may be able to bring a fixture to you so you can see what it looks like over your tank.for more info on our fixtures message me here on the forum or text at (248) 420-6486 also check us out on facebook at Reeftechpros and our website Reeftechpros.com ( pardon the dust, were still updating our wesite with pics and info) thanks

led fixtures are now up for sale!!!! visit reeftechpros.com (still working on it) or on facebook (reeftechpros) one unit is sold but we still have one available. these units start at 200 a piece. contact us at our email address located on our website, facebook, or here on the forums if you have any questions or would like to see the lights in person.especially you die hard metal halide fans, these fixtures provide amazing actinic supplementaion and mount easily to any canopy or ceiling for that manner. easily integratable with your current lighting system these units will provide the extra coverage and intensity that your missing with your t-5's and halides and theyll give all your corals that extra "kick". youll see a whole new side to your corals when exposed to our fixtures.

How about a video instead? :) Keep in mind that this is from my Android phone so the colors are off. This fixture does give me great color! Better blues and whites than my 4 bulb 36" T5 and 2 36" Aquaticlife .5w LED strips, only thing I really miss about my original fixture is the red spectrum I had with my Fiji purple T5 bulb. Video is with the blues and whites 100% and showing around my tank, this little fixture really does surprise me on how well light penetrates to the corners of the tank. I will update on my tank thread in the next few weeks or so, to give them some time, and get a nicer video/review for everyone with wave makers off and such. As of now, overall I am very impressed with this light!
