Overflow algae problem

Probably not just happening to me, but I seem to get a lot of algae buildup in my overflow. Every week I have to take out alot of algae, enough that it really slows down the water coming into the sump and raising my tank water level. Any ideas on this? All tank prams are good and there is no other algae problems in the tank or sump.

Got a photo showing your overflow? Is it open? Make a cover for it so that no light gets in there.

Duh! Good idea Jim and Chris. As much stuff as I build and a cover never crossed my mind.

I use a black piece of sign board material. Its the plastic corrugated stuff. Its very durable and easy to cut to shape with scissors.
