looking to build a sump using 1/4 acrylic and was wandering if anyone on here has an idea of how stong 1/4 really is....the sump will measure 48x12x24 with the largest water section being 15x12x15... going to have a top on it and many baffles to seperate filter sox, skimmer, fuge, qt, then heat/cool return. question is being that there are so many baffles will 1/4 work or should i use 3/8?

I can't answer exactly how strong the 1/4" is, but with that many baffles, and the largest section being only 15" long, I would use 1/4" myself, 3/8 adds weight and cost for no benefit.

I think 1/4 inch would definitely do just fine. i know this is a little smaller than what you are looking for...but for comparison sake, I think it is pretty close and it's made out of 1/4 acrylic

Go to the top of the page under the "Showcase" tab. Then under "Member Reef Tanks". Look forward to seeing your pics and progress.
