I've had my 55G Reef tank approx. 6 months, In the past few months I have developed a passion for Reef Keeping. Right now I have a Eheim 2217 canister filter, a HOB protein skimmer and 2 Hydor 1050 circulators. I have about 50lbs of LR also. I want to get a Refugium but don't know what kind or size will go best with my tank. Or what to do with the canister filter.
Could I get a 30G sump with a Fuge and somehow hook up the Eheim as extra filtration for the Refugium.
Any Advice anyone can give me will be very helpful. Thank You

I would sell the canister to fund for the sump. That is just more work and something to worry about on maintenance day. 30g is a good size, i would get the biggest you have room for.

I agree. Get rid of the canister. Just a pain in the butt. As far as the fuge- go as large as you can fit. You do not even have to purchase a new one. You could build your own for a third of the price by using a spare (or used) tank and adding your own baffles of either glass or acrylic.

Thanks, what would you use to cut 1/4" acrylic. I have a 10 G empty tank

There are acrylic cutting tools on eBay and amazon. I am sure your local hardware store would have them as well
