Hi just got my nano the way I want it, and I am ready to add some easy, clown fish, hermit crab, firefish, friendly corals. Preferably something the clowns can use as a pseudo anemone. Also, looking for a few mini brittle stars. I do not want the green brittles that get large. Any help would be great! Awesome site by the way!:fish2::fish2::fish2::fish2:

I've had clowns host in hairy mushrooms, paly's, zoas, acan echinata and a frogspawn.
Currently my two clowns are residing in the paly/zoanthid patch in the front of my tank.

Yup a clown I had once hosted a acan enchinata. Was way cool to watch the clown actually feed the acan lil pieces of shrimp.

I had a clown that hiosted an orange cap before. Ouch. LOL If you are near the Detroit area, I have some nice hairy mushrooms and yumas as well. One big yuma might look cool in your tank. My clown fish love them. You would be welcome to one.

Thanks for all the great ideas! Still not sure what I am going to go with but it's a start. :propellerhead:

I would look n into euphilias....like frogspawn, hammers and torch corals.
But, as said-
many clowns are opurtunistic, and will host what they can find.
Are these clowns captive breed or wild caught?

Captive bred. My hammer coral is unimpressed with them right now lol

+1 on Sir P's suggestion of euphilias. A torch was my first thought. Probably looks most like an anenome.

And, another good choice - Duncans. My favorite corals. Not sure why I didn't think of them earlier. I can't say that I have seen a clown hosted in one, but I would expect that it is not out of the question.
Funny thing, I have ALL of the corals mentioned above in my tank. Anchor, torch, frogspawn, toadstool, duncan, etc AND a pair of clowns. Never seen them show any interest in ANY of the corals. What gives?

Me? No. I'd forget to feed my kids... I simply can't keep carnivores.

Another low cost choice for them to host in is a terra cotta flower pot. Mine love little caves... :)
You can build your rocks over them, or glue some rocks with zoas / mushrooms, whatever to them.

A neon green toadstool is a nice surrogate...colorful and easy.

Beautiful rics, Jim. I like the toadstool too, of course. But, seeing that pic makes me yearn for a ric (again). I have to solve the heat issues first...

I've got plenty of softies that would work for you...including frags of the green toadstool in the photo above.

I agree completely. duncan coral is also a good candidate. my clowns host my Hawaiian feather duster. it ****es the feather duster off a bit but i dont think of it as a big issue
