i picked up a cheep skimmer on e-bay a Clean-Up 200 Protein Skimmer by the won brothers. ( i know your gonna say you get what you pay for) but i figured i would take the chance. I looked at different skimmers and didn't think in this case the brand would matter. Won brothers being a cheaper line of skimmers, heaters, pumps i guess they just stole all the ideas and design from brand names. So can it be that different? the quality is great. i have a 620 gph pump a Eheim 1260 (cost more than the skimmer but came with the tank) My questions is how long for the skimmer to start working? the tank was set up last week and has been on for 5 days or so.

Usually a couple of days, but since you just set your tank up, you should leave it off since it could make the cycle take longer - it removes the waste that the bacteria need to populate.

It took my skimmer about a day or two to get working. If you have an air nozzle on it you can just take it off for 20 minutes or so then set it how you like it. Thats what I did anyways.
