I know this question is very subjective, but if anybody has some insight or experience, I'd appreciate the help.

The only time I've used LED's are for blue supplimenting and I usually leave them on for 12 hours. I now have 4 units of 120w 3w x 55 Bridgelux 27 blue and 28 white over an 8' tank with anemones and softies.

I plan on running the blues on 12 hours again, but how long do I run the whites along with?

Also, I'm wondering how low above the water to hang these things.

Thanks,
Tom

If it we're me Tom I would set them very high and slowly lower them over time to allow the coral to get use to the intensity of LEDs . If I recall correctly this is your softie tank? I would start at least 16+ inches above the water line and watch how everything responds. Those RBT's will let you know when they're happy. As far as time goes in reality you only need six hours max par to keep coral happy. Ramping up and down is good practice as chort has stated. The new tank is the fourth tank I have used nothing but LED's on now. IMHO this is the safest way to aclimate coral that been under other types of lighting. I also aclimate frags and new corals by starting them at the bottom in the darkest part of the tank and then raising them slowly to the new location. Good luck and the new tank looks sweet! Lets see some more pics bud! :oldman:
