I'm buy a refractometer this morning and if I could I would like to get some opinions on this one. It is the cheap one from Marine Depot. If this is not a good one please advise of a good one that will not break the bank.
Thanks

Thanks for the input. Hopefully it will be better than my swing arm by IO.

Thanks.

Looks like the same one we have here as well (if memory serves me right I picked it up from an F&S sale)...either way they are much more reliable than the swing arm hydrometers.

Looks good! I love my refractometer... my mom gave it to me for Christmas! This is the one I have:

I KNOW my mom didn't pay that much, though. It was on sale... I want to say 89.99. It is SO great getting a reliable reading. That swing-arm p.o.s. I had been using was driving me up the wall!

This is one purchase no aquarist regrets! ;)

Just for fun, when you get run some comparative tests with the refractometer and your old hydrometer and let us know how the swing arm fares. Some seem to be dead on and others off by +/- .003 or more. But the extra piece of mind the refractometer will give you might be worth a few extra minutes sleep each night,

Just to let everyone know, I compared my IO swing arm hydrometer and my new refractometer to see how close they were. I guess I got lucky with my hydrometer, it was dead on with the refractometer. I still like the refractometer better becuse I don't have to fight air bubbles when I am checking the water.
