Do magnets have to be covered in order to be reef safe?
I've got some magnet strips I want to use on a small feeding dish but they're not coated/covered with anything.

do NOT use them if they are not fully covered/sealed.

True that ! Uncovered magnets will rust and create all kinds of problems !

I used Neodymium disc magnets that were epoxy coated for 6 months with no issues at all. I got them from gaussboys.

i just purchased some Tunze pumps that have exposed magnets. the papers sent with them said they were fine to use in the tank without being coated. i would not recomend any magnets myself though.

Are the ones at homedepot rare earth magnets or of the normal variety?
